You can do this Itinerary on your own any time of the year, (low season is Jan to May, high season is June to December).If you prefer, you can join in on a group departure in October 2023. There will be a max of 18 people (including tour leaders).
If you want a longer itinerary please ask, we have an option to extend up to the Mara River to try to see the Wildebeest Migration, (to see the Migration it is never guaranteed, but the guides we work with try very hard for you). We also have prices if you want to extend and go to Zanzibar etc (you are so close). There is also the option to have a beach retreat at the end.

Airfare is recommended to save you a long drive back to Kilimanjaro on the final day. Highly recommended if you do the longer itinerary and will depend on your flight departure time on this final day. Your travel agent can work through this with you.

About River Trees Country Inn
Set in Northern Tanzania just outside the bustling safari town of Arusha, Rivertrees looks out toward Mt Kilimanjaro, and is perfectly situated for exploring the abundant nature reserves that this region is home to. The inn is a charming country estate that was once an old coffee farm, and still retains the nostalgic air of a well-loved homestead. Sprawling ten acres of fertile greenery, the grounds are a natural extension of Mt Meru’s sloping foothills, and offer a sanctuary for the birds and wildlife indigenous to the area. Elegantly rustic cottages are dotted along the river and in thickets of tall trees, while lush lawns and birdsong make for a peaceful and picturesque setting.
Set in the heart of an area rich in nature reserves, montane forests and vibrant village culture, the scope for exploration is endless. The restaurant concocts tasty meals of garden-fresh ingredients and old family recipes, as well as oven-fired pizzas and the best of the region’s locally grown coffees. Delicious candle-lit dinners are served by the warmth of the fireplace, or under the stars and the watchful eyes of resident owls. Note: You might ask why we do two nights here, the first day is arrival so allows us to all get in, the second day is for any mishaps, like lost luggage etc, we give it another day so if by chance a piece of luggage doesn’t arrive with you, it has a good 24 hours to get in on the next flight before we move on with the Safari.

Meet after breakfast and transfer to Arusha National Park for game drivers and explorations, home of the highest concentration of giraffe of any park in Africa. Situated near to Arusha town, and your lodge, it also homes Tanzania's 2nd highest mountain, Mt Meru (4562m). We take a hike to waterfalls with a park ranger for a scenic picnic lunch before heading off for a game drive and the 'secret' crater of Ngurdoto. Afternoon return to your lodge for evening.

Our safari begins by passing through the town centre of Arusha and witnessing the sights and sounds of a colorful and bustling African city. We depart the city from the south west in the direction of the Great Rift Valley and the stunning national park of Tarangire. We enter the park for an easy game drive and exploration.
About Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge
The camp is open all year around and especially during the dry months, the massive elephant herds travel through the corridor between Manyara and Tarangire and spend their time in and around the park. This is because of their ability to uncover permanent sources of fresh water. We endeavour to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, while being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism.

Tarangire to Lake Manyari to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we start our drive directly to the Lake Manyara National Park for morning game drives and lunch. Tonight we are staying on the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
About Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Ngorongoro Serena Lodge is a large yet comfortable hotel built onto the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Its size and decor may mean that it lacks the ambience or style of other lodges, but it makes up for this by providing the most magnificent views of the Crater and convenient access for game drives. The lodge has 75 rooms in total including a suite, twin, double and triple rooms and connecting rooms making it popular with families. Each of the rooms enjoys uninterrupted views over the Crater from individual rock-enclosed balconies.
The split-level rock-built dining and bar area features a wall of windows looking down on to the constantly changing vistas of the crater. The menu choices include traditional Maasai fare as well as international cuisine, with the opportunity to dine alfresco from a safari breakfast under an Acacia grove to a BBQ lunch by a hippo-filled pool. A rim-flow swimming pool provides a welcome cool down during the day.

Short drive to Ngorongoro Conservation area. Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano, an incredible natural amphitheatre, 25 km and teeming with all the African big game. Early morning descent into the crater for spectacular scenery and game viewing in what has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

We depart after breakfast to the endless plains of the Serengeti, via exploration of the Ndutu plains areas. The Serengeti plays home to millions of Africa’s large mammals, making this one of the world’s most famous wildlife destinations. We can game drive all the way to our special camp area.
About Ehlane Plains Camp
The tented Ehlane Plains Camp in East Africa is set in the eastern region of the wildlife-rich Serengeti of Tanzania. This region of Tanzania is characterized by the vast plains of the Serengeti, which is a remote wildlife savannah home to a great abundance of wildlife. The word "Ehlane" is a Zulu word which means 'wilderness'. True to its name, this camp offers an exceptional safari experience in the Soit le Motonyi area, far away from the Serengeti transit areas. The closest airstrip to this Serengeti camp is the Seronera airstrip which lies about a one and a half hours drive away.
This Serengeti safari camp offers eight tented suites which include the two stargazer suites and the one family suite. Children over the age of five years can be accommodated at the Ehlane Plains Camp. The luxury tents are well-appointed, with convenient features and amenities to ensure a private and most comfortable setting. The tents, which are all under canvas, afford beautiful vistas of the wilderness ahead. Each of the safari suites features a welcoming lounge with couches and a coffee table. During the early morning and late afternoon safari drives, guests explore the untamed African wildlife which includes lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, zebras and giraffes to mention but a few.

This morning you can enjoy an (optional, additional cost), early morning balloon flight accompanied with champagne breakfast together with flight achievement certificates. Afterwards, continue with game driving and exploration in this unique area of the Serengeti endless plains, wetlands and stunning resident wildlife all year round. It is while in the heart of the Serengeti eco-system where you can truly understand why the Serengeti is names after the Maasai word of ‘Siringit’ which means endless plains.

Our special camp is within prime viewing areas and as it is located in the unspoilt areas of the Serengeti. We spend the day in search of spectacular wildlife by combing the surrounding areas, while only to returning to the camp for lunch and resting before afternoon game driving.
